Majority of sport related injuries involve a combination of the following: muscle belly, muscle tendon, ligament, cartilage, joint capsule as well as the joint itself. Sports chiropractic aims to achieve focus on these areas through the use of a multimodal treatment approach. These treatments include the following: manipulation, mobilisation, soft tissue therapies, electrotherapy, rehabilitation and other movement and exercise therapies.
The treatment can also stretch further to nutritional advice, strapping, bracing and other related approaches. All these approaches are applied to injury management in the form of acute, sub-acute and chronic injury. The treatment may also look at prevention of injury and the optimisation of athletic performance through the pursuit of the highest efficiency in neuromusculoskeletal functioning.
